Hi friend, I’m so glad you’re here!

My name is Rebecca, and for the past several years, I worked in international development—chasing a dream I’d held since college of becoming a humanitarian diplomat. I studied business and later earned a master’s in international relations, hoping to help build a freer, safer, and more prosperous world.

But recently, God has redirected my path. Instead of serving people’s physical needs through programs and policies, He has called me to care for their spiritual ones. Today, I live in Romania as a missionary, where I get to share the love of Jesus, help strengthen a local church, teach English, and walk alongside people in their everyday lives.

This transition has been both humbling and exciting. It’s been an adventure full of stretching, learning, and trusting God in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

Here on The Citizen Diplomat, I’ll be sharing stories from my missionary journey in Romania, reflections from my travels, and the lessons God is teaching me along the way. My hope is that this space encourages you, whether in your own faith, your calling, or simply your everyday walk of life.

So grab a cup of coffee (or tea!) and join me here—I’d love for this to feel like a place where we can journey together.

my life scripture:

“But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.”

Psalm 73:28

My Story

I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, to missionary parents, so you could say cross-cultural living and faith have been part of my story from the very beginning. When I was eight, my family moved to Oklahoma, where I had an amazing traditional “American” childhood and for the first time met people who were different than me. That mix of cultures shaped me deeply and gave me a lifelong curiosity for people’s stories.

Every summer, I found myself on volunteer trips across Central and South America—Guam, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Brazil, and Mexico. Those experiences showed me how big and beautiful the world is, and how much joy there is in serving others.

Southern California will always be home and I’m so grateful to have spent my young adult life in such a beautiful place! Now in this season in Romania, when I’m not ministering to others, you’ll usually find me staying active, exploring Bucharest, or reading a good adventure book. I love water sports (scuba diving in particular), eating healthy, and diving into anything that helps me grow—whether that’s personal finance, personal development, or just learning something new.

At the heart of it all, I’m passionate about connection, growth, and living with purpose. And that’s really what this space is about—sharing the adventures, lessons, and stories God is writing in my life, and hopefully encouraging you in yours too.
